Availability to coincide with the car’s launch
Working with the UK’s leading Jaguar
tuning specialist, Paramount Performance, QuickSilver have
designed and developed a cat-back ‘Sports’ exhaust system
for the 2007 model Jaguar XK8.
The brief was to have this system on the market for the
Cars’s launch in Summer 2006.
All modern vehicles have to meet the same
worldwide regulations on sound and emissions. The car
manufacturers are inventing ever more ingenious ways of
distinguishing their model’s acoustics. Like the use of
exhaust valves to alter the sound at different throttle
position & engine rpm (BMW & Ferrari), different length
tubes within the silencer to generate organ-like chords at
varying pressures (Ferrari) and harnessing panels within the
car’s structure to resonate a subtle depth within the cabin
(Jaguar) – are all just some of their clever tricks, but for
many enthusiast drivers the muffled exhaust note is still
unsatisfying.
The QuickSilver team were able to devise
a new look together with an appropriate Sports sound to give
the car a distinctive note rising in pitch with rpm. A
superb sound is created by the removal of restrictive
silencer boxes and the performance is enhanced by their
replacement with more efficient silencing to release an
extra 18 bhp
QuickSilver have developed a ‘Sports’
exhaust that is lightweight, robust, and free flowing.
Manufactured from aircraft-grade type-304 stainless steel
and Tig welded throughout. All pipe work is mandrel bent to
maximise the flow of gas and it is finished off with
distinguished ‘Aston’ polished tips that match the curvature
of the rear apron.
