Better
Than New - Jaguar Mk. 5
Many modern restorers are no longer satisfied to restore
classic cars ‘as new’ – they are making them far better than
new incorporating modern materials, techniques and
accessories to improve reliability and usability.
Vincla MotorSport in Madrid, Spain employed QuickSilver’s
design team to modernise the fabrication of the manifolds
and exhaust system on the enormously stylish 1940’s Jaguar
Mark 5.
Vincla are restoring a small number of Jaguar Mk5s to
improve on their original glory following this route.
Unusually, Vincla have opted to retain the original pushrod
engine but rebuilt with modern internal components and
assembly methods. As part of this restoration, Vincla
Motorsport came to QuickSilver to enhance the manifold and
exhaust system using the technologies of the 21st century.
Specifically, the original Jaguar cast manifolds were too
clumsy and restrictive in design, improvements were needed,
creating tuned primaries with practical access to manifold
bolts and engine sparkplugs.
QuickSilver had to think hard, a system was designed with
equal length but longer primaries and a redesigned front
pipe section. The remainder of the system was built to the
original factory’s design.
QuickSilver produce a similar range of improved tubular
manifolds for all the Jaguar XKs and 6 cylinder ‘E’ Types.
