Ferrari
Enzo ‘Sports’ Exhaust
Some owners of Special cars have a very firm idea of the
sound that they would like to hear from their vehicle and
ask us to manufacture a suitable exhaust system to meet this
requirement.
A Texas Oil Man and Ferrari Enzo owner, asked QuickSilver
to design and produce a Sports exhaust system to meet his
specific needs of performance, sound and style. The system
was to have a more sporting exhaust note reminiscent of
Ferrari’s F1 ancestry, rising progressively with throttle
and engine rpm.
The original exhaust valves were not to be retained but
the detail design of the system was to follow the factory
parts as he did not want it to appear as an ‘aftermarket’
exhaust, so the Tips, silencer ribbing patterns and heat
shrouds were to be correctly duplicated. Also, the top of
the large original silencer is visible through the rear
grille and was thought to spoil the rear view (see below).
The QuickSilver design team took on the challenge. Using
the original mounting points, this system was designed with
a lighter silencer feeding all four tail-pipes and sitting
lower in the engine bay. The complete system is made from
lightweight type 304 austenitic stainless steel. The pipes
exiting the silencer/muffler are lagged in a special
heat-insulating foil and terminate with four polished round
tail-pipes. Throttle response was much improved..
The customer’s final verdict? - ‘It fits really nice and
sounds Great!’
QuickSilver now produce two levels of sound for the Enzo,
'Sports' and 'SuperSports' – which should suit all tastes.
